President-elect John Mahama's passion for farming is truly inspiring. He's been quite open about how farming is not just a business, but a way of life for him. In fact, he's mentioned that if he hadn't pursued a career in politics, he would have been a full-time farmer ¹.

Mahama's farm in Yapei and Busunu in the Savannah region is a testament to his dedication to agriculture. He's diversified into both crop farming and livestock, with a focus on sustainability and contributing to Ghana's food security. His farm currently produces maize and soybean, which are supplied directly to Asutuare farms for poultry feed.

What's even more impressive is Mahama's plans for expansion. He's looking to increase his livestock numbers, with a focus on sheep and cattle farming. He's already made significant progress, growing his goat population from 300 to almost 500, with an additional 200 animals added recently.

Mahama's commitment to farming is not just about personal fulfillment; it's also about contributing to Ghana's economic development. As he's stated, farming is central to his life, and he's eager to dedicate more time to it upon his retirement. Who knows, maybe one day his farm will become a model for sustainable agriculture in Ghana.
