A tragic occurrence occurred during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's final State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on January 3, 2025. While the President was giving his speech, one of his personal bodyguards unexpectedly fainted.

The bodyguard, known for his permanent presence just behind the President during public occasions, collapsed to the floor, generating a brief panic among those in the parliamentary chamber. This occurred as President Akufo-Addo reflected on his government's triumphs and problems during the previous eight years.

Immediately, security guards and paramedics in the chamber responded, assisting in carrying the bodyguard out of the room and transferring him to a hospital for medical care. Although the cause of his collapse is unknown, sources indicate that he was aware when brought out of Parliament.

A video of the incident soon circulated on social media, shocking viewers, especially since the bodyguard is normally portrayed as a fit and attentive guy who is always ready to protect the president. Many MPs and attendees expressed concern about his health following the occasion.



Despite the unnerving situation, President Akufo-Addo remained calm and composed, making sure the bodyguard received attention before continuing with his speech.
