P. K. Sarpong, a New Patriotic Party member involved in social media communications, has denied rumors circulating in the media that former finance minister Ken Ofori Atta has passed away. P. K. Sarpong lamented on social media why certain Ghanaians take pleasure in spreading false information about people's illnesses and demises. Sarpong reported that they said Bediatuo had passed away unexpectedly. Even his family members were unaware that something had occurred to him when they penned his obituary. Subsequently, they altered their accounts and concocted a variety of conspiracy theories regarding the President and the Executive Secretary.

Some reportedly broke down in tears on radio and TV, while others were simply celebrating what they claimed had happened to the man. P. K. Sarpong wrote in his article that they have passed the death rumors to the former Finance Minister because they were unable to fulfill their goal of making sure Bediatuo joined his ancestors.

He made it clear that the finance minister is in excellent health. He is enjoying himself with his family and is not ill. "Let alone hope for his death, the man is not even ill. What do they gain from such malicious gossip? They pray for other people to die, not that they will be spared from dying themselves at some point. He counseled Ghanaians not to yearn for the death of others since everyone will eventually pass away and death is simply another route through life.
