A recent pipeline fault at the Kpong Water Treatment Plant has resulted in a disruption of water supply to several communities. The affected areas include Ashaiman, Prampram, and 11 other surrounding neighborhoods.
This development has left many residents without access to clean drinking water, affecting households, businesses, and essential services. The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has apologized for the inconvenience and assured residents that engineers are working to fix the issue.
The GWCL has a history of dealing with pipeline faults at the Kpong Water Treatment Plant. In April 2021, the company announced that the main 42-inch transmission pipeline was weak and prone to frequent bursts due to high pressure.
Despite efforts to repair and maintain the pipeline, faults continue to occur, disrupting water supply to affected communities. The GWCL has urged residents to conserve any available water and seek alternative supply sources during the period of repair.
Engineers are working to fix the pipeline fault as quickly as possible. The GWCL has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring normal water supply to the affected areas. Residents are advised to stay updated on the situation through the company's official communication channels.
The Kpong Water Treatment Plant is a critical source of water for the Tema and Greater Accra regions. Issues with the transmission lines can have widespread impacts, affecting hundreds of thousands of people. The GWCL is working to resolve the issue and restore water supply to the affected communities.
