President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will win the 2024 general elections with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as their presidential candidate. He stated that even former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), recognizes that he stands no chance against Dr. Bawumia .

The President highlighted the achievements of the NPP government during his tenure, focusing on key areas such as education, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic reforms. He emphasized that these accomplishments were clear indicators of the NPP's dedication to national development .

However, it's worth noting that the NPP and NDC are currently embroiled in a dispute over which party holds the majority in Parliament. The NDC claims to have a majority with 136 seats to the NPP's 135, while the NPP disputes this claim .
