This revelation came to light during a meeting with the Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana, Myriam Montrat, who complained about delayed payments to international companies by the current government .

Montrat emphasized the importance of timely payments, stating that delayed payments have been a significant deterrent for companies. She urged the incoming administration to address this issue promptly to maintain Ghana's appeal as a destination for foreign businesses .

Mahama acknowledged that Canada is not the only country to raise concerns about delayed payments. He mentioned that the American ambassador had also raised similar concerns, providing a list of American companies that have done work but haven't been paid .
