A recent survey by Professor Smart Sarpong predicts a first-round victory for the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming 2024 presidential election in Ghana.

The survey projects Dr. Bawumia to secure approximately 49.1% of the total votes, with his closest competitor, former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), expected to garner about 45.8% of the vote .

Here's a breakdown of the projected votes for other candidates:

- *Nana Kwame Bediako* (New Force Movement): 2.2%
- *Alan Kyerematen* (Movement for Change): 1.2%
- *Other minor candidates*: 1.7% collectively

In terms of regional support, the NDC is expected to win nine of Ghana's 16 regions, while the NPP is predicted to dominate in the remaining seven. Despite winning fewer regions, the NPP's concentrated support in populous areas appears to give Dr. Bawumia an edge in the overall vote tally.
