Following the unexpected passing of Nana Kwame Asamoah Yeboah-Afari, a well-known businessman and the creator of the renowned Royal Senchi Hotel and Resort in Senchi-Akwamu, the Ghanaian hospitality sector has been plunged into sadness.

After a brief illness, Nana Yeboah-Afari, who was also the Adantamhene of Akwamu, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024.

His passing has shocked the travel and hospitality sector, where he was well-liked for his accomplishments and creative leadership.

Background

Nana Yeboah-Afari was a well-known person in Ghana's tourist sector and a member of the Akwamu Traditional Council.

During his leadership, the Royal Senchi Hotel and Resort gained international recognition as a symbol of excellence.
He received multiple awards for his dedication to protecting Ghana's cultural legacy and advancing eco-friendly travel.

Legacy

As the Royal Senchi Hotel and Resort's Executive Director, Nana Yeboah-Afari played a key role in making the establishment a premier travel destination.

The resort's design and amenities reflected his love of Ghanaian customs and culture.

Additionally, he was a major contributor to the Eastern Region's tourism industry, which boosted employment and the local economy.

Tributes

Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Akwamuhene, and the entire Akwamuman, have expressed deep sorrow over Nana Yeboah-Afari’s passing.

The Yeboah-Afari families of Berekum and Dormaa, as well as the maternal family of Techimantia, have also mourned the loss of their beloved relative.

Funeral Rites

A 40-day traditional observance will be held in Nana Yeboah-Afari’s memory on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Bogyawe Palace, Akwamufie.

A vigil will precede the observance on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the Royal Senchi Hotel and Resort.
