Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, is working to establish a Pilot Training School in Ho, Volta Region. The school, to be located at the Ho Airport, aims to provide aviation services, train pilots, and create jobs in the region .

The project has been in the works since last year, with Togbe Afede paying $32,445 to the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) as a 30% deposit for land allocation. However, despite this payment, the airport authority has yet to assist the chief in starting the project .

The proposed school would not only provide training for aviation personnel but also help revitalize the defunct Ho Airport. The airport, which was completed in 2018, features modern facilities, including a runway, aircraft parking area, terminal building, and air traffic control tower .

Interestingly, there are already some aviation training schools in Ghana, such as the Starwest Flight Academy, which offers professional pilot training programs ². Additionally, the Ghana Air Force has its own aviation training school, which provides training for military personnel .

Overall, the establishment of the Pilot Training School in Ho has the potential to boost the economy, create jobs, and improve air travel in the Volta Region.
