Kwame Baa Mensa, the National Sports Authority (NSA) chairman of the Ashanti Region, was attacked by unknown people at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium yesterday, January 9, 2025.

His attackers approached him and demanded that he hand over the keys to his office and official vehicle.

The incident is believed to have been planned by National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the region.

Despite the hooting and chanting, Kwame Baa Mensa was safely taken off the premises by some police officers who intervened quickly.

The goons who took over Kwame Baa Mensa are apparently the same persons who attacked the Baba Yara Sports Stadium today, forcing personnel to leave their offices and locking the doors.

This event comes after claimed NDC sympathizers attempted to take over the offices of various government organizations.

While the minority has urged President John Dramani Mahama to quickly call the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party faithful to order, he has also warned the NDC's youth against invading and attempting to take over state-owned institutions.

Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the NDC's Greater Accra Regional Chairman, has also sharply condemned such actions and refuted suggestions that NDC members were involved in these occurrences.

He has also urged party followers to report any suspicious or illegal activity to the proper authorities.

Some residents have also urged the police to keep a careful eye on governmental institutions to prevent such attacks.
