CONGRATULATIONS TO SHAMIMA MUSLIM ON HER APPOINTMENT AS DEPUTY PRESIDENTIAL SPOKESPERSON

We are excited to congratulate Shamima Muslim on her well-deserved appointment as Deputy Presidential Spokesperson at the Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana. This appointment is a testament to her exceptional leadership, communication skills, and dedication to public service.

Her exceptional commitment to development and public service stems from her work as a renowned media practitioner, an advocate for inclusivity and mainstreaming of gender in major development initiatives, and convening women in media to drive their development needs through the Alliance for Women in Media Africa (AWMA).

Shamima has led an illustrious career in the media for over two decades starting as a key critical voice on Radio Univers back in her university days when the station dominated morning show discussions on critical governance, social and democratic issues. She went on to feature as a panelist on several platforms with the proliferation of radio and TV stations, before becoming a primetime anchor on Citi Fm and Metro TV where she excelled brilliantly as one of the most accomplished journalists of her time. She was a source of great inspiration for many, especially young girls, to explore careers in the media.

Prior to full time media work, while at the Legal Resources Center, Shamima worked on major social intervention projects and engaged extensively in the legislative process from public consultations to drafting, consideration and passing of bills into laws by the Parliament of Ghana. She gained an acute sense of the governance architecture and the intricacies of social and development issues faced by a majority of the Ghanaian people.

We are firmly convinced that her credentials in media and communications, policy and legislation, social and development work, together with her exceptional drive and amiable demeanour will bring a fine balance to the communications bureau at the Presidency.

We applaud His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for recognising Shamima's outstanding talent and appointing her to this critical role. President Mahama has, through this appointment and many similar efforts since his inauguration, demonstrated a passion for Ghanaian youth and an unwavering determination to turn around the fortunes and destiny of this country.

Please join us in congratulating Shamima Muslim on this outstanding achievement. We wish her all the best in her new role and look forward to her continued success.
