On Friday, 14th March 2025, Guinness Ghana hosted a high-profile press conference to welcome the Premier League Trophy to Ghana for the first time since becoming the league’s Official Beer Partner. Attended by top sports journalists, football analysts, and key stakeholders, the event preceded an exciting Guinness Matchday experience that took place on Sunday, 16th March, 2025 at Pitstop, Accra.
During the press conference, Estella Muzito, Marketing and Innovations Director at Guinness Ghana, expressed her excitement about the trophy’s return to Ghana, stating, “The Guinness and Premier League partnership brings together two iconic global brands that are loved by communities all over the world. It has been 13 years since the Premier League Trophy last came to Ghana, and now, thanks to our incredible partnership with the Premier League, Guinness has brought it back again.”
Notable stakeholders attended the press conference, including National Sports Authority (NSA) Director General, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, who highlighted the immense passion Ghanaians have for the EPL and encouraged the country to take a cue from its success to further elevate local football. Former Black Stars and Premier League players John Paintsil and John Mensah also shared their excitement. Paintsil remarked, “Even when I played in England, I never got this close to the trophy, and now it’s here in Ghana.” Mensah added, “I wish I could have won it.”
Global Marketing Manager, Guinness Africa, Uche Nwalie highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “For the next three years, Guinness continues to be the Official Beer Partner of the Premier League as part of the four-year partnership agreement. Let’s be honest, when it comes to football, no other league ranks higher by fan base than the Premier League. It’s the most-watched football league in the world, reaching over 900 million homes across 189 countries. The passion, the unpredictability, the last-minute screamers is what makes the Premier League special.”
In addition to the football action, Guinness Ghana showcased its expanded portfolio, offering consumers with choices within the iconic Guinness trademark. Its newest offering, Guinness Smooth, complements the bold, full-bodied taste of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (FES). Sabina Manu, Beers Marketing Manager at Guinness Ghana, highlighted the significance of this addition, stating, “At Guinness Ghana, we are constantly inspired by our consumers’ passion for bold and full-bodied flavours. Guinness Smooth is our answer to those who prefer a milder, silkier taste, ensuring there's a Guinness for everyone.”
The excitement peaked on Sunday, 16th March, as Guinness Ghana hosted an electrifying Guinness Matchday Experience at Pitstop, Labone. As part of the exciting weekend, Guinness Ghana officially launched its Positive Drinking campaign, “Control Be Sense”, captured by the mantra “Sip. Savour.
