Women in PR Ghana unveils top 10 PR Women for 2024

Women in PR Ghana (WiPR) unveils the Top 10 Women in PR for the year 2024 as part of its celebration of International Women’s Day.

The prestigious recognition, which is in its 7th year, celebrates the remarkable contributions of women in the field of Public Relations, highlighting their leadership and contribution to the grooming of the next generation of female PR practitioners, impactful campaigns, and dedication to the development of the industry.

The selected Top 10 PR Women have demonstrated commitment to excellence in shaping the PR landscape in Ghana and the African continent. They have also developed their mentees to follow their footsteps in delivering excellence for their organisations.

The Top 10 PR Women in Ghana for 2024 are:

1. Esther Cobbah, (CEO of Stratcomm Africa and President, Institute of Public Relations, Ghana)

2. Sophia Kudjordji, (Chief Corporate Communications Officer at Jospong Group of Companies)

3. Ivy Heward Mills, (Director of International Education and Collaboration, UPSA)

4. Shirley Tony Kum, Corporate Communications Manager at Vivo Energy Ghana, Shell)

5. Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, (Head, Corporate Communications, MTN Ghana)

6. Emma Wenani, (Chief Director, Global Media Alliance Group)

7. Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, (Foundation Sustainability and External Comms Manager, Telecel Ghana)

8. Cassandra Twum Ampofo, (Head of Public Relations, Ghana Education Service)

9. Maame Akua Amoah Twum, (Communications Coordinator for Anglophone West and North Africa, Afrobarometer)

10. Kobi Hemaa Osisiadan, (Director of Corporate Affairs, Ghana-India Kofi Annan Center of Excellence in ICT)

In the year under review, WiPR Ghana received 26 nominations from the PR community to aid the search for the 2024 edition of the Top 10 Women in PR. A six-member jury with industry expertise and credibility, thoroughly reviewed and shortlisted the entries based on a set of criteria including: a minimum of six (6) years of public relations or communication practice and experience, planning and execution of successful campaigns for their organisations and/or clients and extensive usage of multiple channels (traditional and new media) to share their works as Public Relations professionals.

The others are; previous recognition through nominations and awards on their own behalf or on behalf of their organisations or clients; engaged in speaking opportunities, mentored, educated, and supported other PR professionals, led and championed Public Relations campaigns with national and international appeal.

Joyce Sackitey-Ahiadorme, President of Women in PR Ghana hailed the announcement of the 2024 Top 10 PR Women in Ghana describing it as a worthy moment for recognising outstanding contributions of women who are projecting the important role communicators play in organisations.

“This recognition is an opportune moment to reflect on the profound impact these exceptional women have had on the business environment in the past year. The Public Relations role has transitioned over the years, offering brands and organizations willing to embrace the new age of technology a strategic storytelling tool for practitioners to shape narratives, strengthen brand positioning, as well as drive and create meaningful connections with target audiences. These women are examples of how we are powerfully contributing to the growth of this profession sustainably. The power of a brand is as powerful as the team behind its public relations. We hail our newest top 10 women in PR for 2024” she stated.

She further emphasized the role these trailblazing professionals will be playing in the 2025 Women in PR Ghana mentorship programme, which is aimed at mentoring and developing the expertise of the next generation of female PR leaders.

Whitney Boakye Mensah, Member of the Top 10 Women in PR Jury, remarked that the 2024 Top 10 Women in PR Ghana listing recognizes professionals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic impact and innovative storytelling.

“This year’s honorees have utilised both social and traditional platforms to drive impactful campaigns, strengthen brand narratives, and contribute meaningfully to business objectives. As the industry evolves, WiPR encourages professionals to enhance their digital storytelling skills and embrace emerging platforms to showcase their contributions effectively”, Whitney stated.

Women in PR Ghana also recognises the outstanding work of these PR Stars, Suzy Ansah, Regional Marketing Specialist for West & Central Africa, US Agency for Global Media and Voice of America, Linda Segbefia, Corporate Communications Officer for UBA, Lorrencia Adam Nkrumah, Corporate Communications Public Affairs Specialist, Nestle Central & West Africa and Priscilla Mawuena, Communications Officer, World Health Organisation, Tanzania.
