Kwame Asare Obeng, commonly known as A Plus, a Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has claimed that some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members, including Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), planned to imprison him for criticising the administration.
In an interview with Joy FM, A Plus stated that the attempt to imprison him was prevented by the intervention of Kennedy Agyapong, NPP Member of Parliament for Assin Central. He viewed Kennedy Agyapong as a fair and dependable individual whose actions kept him from facing false accusations.
"The only reason I attended the meeting was because of Honorable Ken. Honorable Ken is a good person. You may have troubles with him, but he is a beautiful person. Honorable Ken will be there for you in times of need. Some NPP members once planned to imprison me.
"So, the morning before court, I prepared. I told my kids that I could go to jail today. Chairman Wontumi was a part of the plot to put us in jail. Was this part of the plan to imprison me? Yes, this was part of the plan to imprison me. So we were going to court that morning. Then, the morning before we went, Honorable Ken called and said, 'I'm leaving America. I'll be arriving in Ghana tomorrow morning. I need to be in Ghana because I'm not sure what's going on. He simply halted everything and flew back to Ghana."
A Plus also complimented Kennedy Agyapong's integrity and boldness, claiming that the MP works for justice regardless of party affiliation.
"So, if Honorable Ken calls me at any moment, I must be present. I had to listen to him. Even though I said on Facebook that I support COCOS and agree with the NDC, I had to listen to Honorable Ken. Honorable Ken is a terrific person. He will be there for you. He is a friend of their buddy, uncle of their uncle, and brother of their brother.
He stated that the incident strengthened his desire to hold public authorities responsible.
