John Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, disclosed that the Akufo-Addo administration intends to transfer nearly $2 billion in energy-related debt to the incoming NDC administration. John Mahama claims that the Akufo-Addo Bawumia administration is only holding on to a few things in order to give Dumsor to the incoming NDC government.

John Mahama explained, "What they are doing is to hold on small, small, you know the NDC is coming, the dumsor that they have brought, this different dumsor that they have brought, they want to push it to the NDC," while speaking while running for office. "As I'm talking to you, the amount of money we owe them for the foreign equipment that produces power is approaching two billion dollars. It's not cedis; they are owed nearly two billion dollars," he continued.

"So, they are managing the debts small, small," he continued, "and they will turn them over to us on January 7th, the next NDC government. But I'll tell Ghanaians not to give up because NDC is a trustworthy organization, and once we take office, we'll let them know what's available and that we have the men and women who can work on fixing it so they can rest easy.
