A police officer and a businessman in Kumasi got into a heated argument over a young woman, which resulted in gunshots, according to the Joynews report.

Locals were shocked by the occurrence, which took place in the busy Adum neighborhood during the day and attracted a sizable audience. Although there were no reported injuries, the situation swiftly became heated and authorities made arrests. A police report submitted to the Kumasi Central Police Station states that Kofi Mensah, a businessman, entered the station to report a disturbance at a nearby tavern, which sparked the altercation.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that the altercation had already heated up and that customers and onlookers were watching the situation play out. According to witnesses, Kofi Mensah and his female friend, Abena Serwaa, were approached by the officer, who was identified as Constable Kwame Boadu from the Manhyia District Police Station, while they were out mingling.

Mensah and Constable Boadu allegedly got into a fight after Boadu showed interest in Serwaa. The two men fought for control of the crowded space as the conversation swiftly descended into violence. It appeared to be a typical disagreement at first, but the officer abruptly left and went to his car. According to one witness, he returned with his military gun. "He warned Mensah to avoid the woman by firing a shot into the air."

Unfazed, Mensah apparently persisted in his argument, which infuriated the officer even more. Within minutes, police backup came and defused the situation by disarming Constable Boadu and locking down his firearm.

In order to maintain public safety and restore order, they also arrested both guys. Constable Boadu's revolver with its remaining ammunition and a wasted round casing were among the items found at the scene. Local officials voiced their disapproval of the officer's behavior and pledged to conduct a comprehensive inquiry to ascertain whether disciplinary action is required. “This behavior does not align with the values we expect from our officers,” said a police spokesperson. We'll carry out a thorough investigation.
Adum residents were shocked, especially by the police officer's deployment of his firearm in a public place.
One local business owner remarked, "This isn't what we expect from our law enforcement." "People shouldn't be afraid of those who are meant to protect us; they should feel safe." According to the police report, Kofi Mensah and Constable Boadu were detained overnight at the Kumasi Central Police Station while additional investigation was conducted.
