John Mahama of the NDC was proclaimed the winner of the 2024 presidential election, marking the successful conclusion of the poll. Numerous incidents involving people, law enforcement, and government officials have been reported across. A new development regarding state properties has been observed as a result of the appointments made by both the current and incoming governments to lead the government's transition.
Leading National Democratic Congress (NDC) member Maleek Basintale has made a daring accusation against the departing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, according to an interview footage that TV3 Ghana has aired. Basintale asserted in a live interview that the NPP had already started selling government cars at auction after losing the general elections in 2024.
Maleek claims that this action presents significant questions regarding how state resources will be managed during the changeover. He charged that the NPP was trying to exhaust government resources prior to the January inauguration of the new government. "If proven, such actions amount to abuse of power and disregard for proper transitional protocols," Basintale stressed. "I have the complete list of vehicles up for auction, and the NPP has begun to auction them off. This is happening at a startling rate."
We will make sure that responsibility wins because this is unacceptable," Basintale said in the interview. In order to avoid any irregularities, he also asked Ghanaians to be on guard and insisted that the next administration, which would be led by President-elect John Dramani Mahama, carry out a comprehensive audit of all public assets. All eyes are on the departing government to make sure that state resources are transferred openly and legally throughout the transition phase. Widespread reactions have been triggered by this disclosure, with many people doubting the validity of these auctions amid a time of transition. NPP detractors have demanded prompt investigations, while party supporters have rejected the allegations as politically motivated and without merit. Here are a few remarks I collected from the post.
