President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's disregard for certain regions of the Central Region due to partisan politics has been denounced by former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama. He expresses his grief at the Central Region's beloved communities struggling with the disregard of important development initiatives that are essential to their development and well-being.
Why the government would disregard its citizens and their rightful portion of the national cake was beyond John Dramani Mahama's comprehension. "After touring fourteen (14) constituencies in the Central Region so far, I cannot help but join the chiefs and people in condemning the neglect of our communities for petty partisan political reasons, as President Akufo-Addo himself has stated," the post, which was shared on social media, said.
Seeing our beloved communities struggle with the disregard of important development initiatives that are essential to their development and well-being hurts me. The chiefs of Ekumfi, Brakwa, and Ajumako Besease expressed their complaints on Saturday, echoing those of many young people, families, and households who should have access to improved healthcare, education, infrastructure, and chances for sustainable livelihoods.
How can a government disregard the needs of the people it rules over while ostensibly punishing communities for choosing the NDC and electing its representatives to the legislature? This is a question of justice and accountability as much as politics. Regardless of political affiliation, every citizen has a right to have their needs met and their concerns heard.
Development will be a right for everyone, not just a select few, as I have done in the past when I served as president and will guide this nation to success once more. I guarantee that no community will be left behind as the NDC administration of John Mahama and Naana Jane will see to it that our communities advance and your needs are met.
