Richard Jakpa, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Agent Supervisor for ballot printing in the 2024 elections, has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of covertly printing 3,000 more ballots than needed in a number of Ashanti and Eastern constituencies.
He alleges that in certain constituencies, they have covertly produced 3,000 more ballots than are necessary. Jakpa asserts that these areas are NPP strongholds, casting doubt on the validity of the election process.
"EC officials were caught last Saturday, November 2, 2024, secretly and deliberately printing 3,000 additional ballot papers beyond the required numbers in several constituencies across the Ashanti and Eastern regions," Richard Jakpa said in an interview with Joy News.

He claimed that each of the 47 constituencies received an extra 3,000 votes in the Ashanti area alone.
However, Samuel Tettey, the EC's Deputy Chairman of Operations, said during yesterday's November 3 National Peace Campaign launch that all extra votes are destroyed in front of political party agents to ensure election fairness and transparency.

He also gave Ghanaians his word that the EC will hold a credible and peaceful poll.He asserts that "the ballot printing allegation, which is currently in the public domain, is not true."

He reiterated the Electoral Commission's commitment to holding free and fair elections and asked political parties to be cautious in their public remarks.
