The New Patriotic Party (NPP) team was led by Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the funeral and burial of Dr. Saanbaye Basilide Kangbere, the Upper West Regional Chairman. On Saturday, November 2, the funeral took place at Owlo in the Upper West Region.
Chairman Heavy Weight, as Dr. Kangbere is affectionately called, devoted his life to the NPP. The party was shocked by his death on June 7, 2024, in Accra. As a result, Dr. Kangbere, the current Upper West Regional Chairman, narrowly defeated Alhaji Mahama Toyina, his primary opponent, to win reelection in 2022.
Chairman S.B., as he was commonly known, made a lasting impression on the NPP. Numerous people were motivated to follow in his footsteps by his dedication to the party's principles and aspirations. To commemorate Dr. Kangbere, the NPP has ordered party flags to fly at half-mast.
Mr. Adul-Rahman Aziz, the NPP's first vice chairman in the Upper West Region, appealed for unity in the next 2024 election as the party grieves the loss of its regional chairman. Ghanaians and the NPP family say goodbye to a great leader and patriot. May the lovely soul of Dr. Saanbaye Basilide Kangbere continue to rest in peace.
