Founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Rev. Isaac-Owusu Bempah, has jokingly accused former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of deceiving him with an unfulfilled promise to build his church.
Speaking to his congregation on February 16, 2025, Rev. Owusu-Bempah expressed his deep disappointment, stating that the former president personally assured him of constructing the church but failed to deliver on his promise.
He questioned whether the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) could investigate Akufo-Addo for what he described as deceit.
“Can I take my case to the OSP to investigate it for me because Nana Akufo-Addo has scammed me before? Wasn’t I sitting somewhere when he came and told me he would build my church for me? Can the Special Prosecutor not prosecute him?” he asked.
Rev. Owusu-Bempah did not hold back in his criticism, calling Akufo-Addo "wicked" for ignoring his promise despite the unwavering spiritual support he had received.
“He looked into the eyes of God and didn’t mind me until his tenure ended. Pastor, let us speak the truth; he is wicked. Upon all the prayers we offered for him, nine months nonstop, this is how he repaid us,” he lamented.
The outspoken cleric further revealed that he had rejected financial offerings, including U.S. dollars, that were sent to him at the time.
“When they brought us something, we rejected it. At the time, I hoped I would have taken it. They brought me dollars, and I rejected them. Why didn’t I take them? I don’t know what is wrong with me,” he remarked.
His comments came in response to the OSP’s recent declaration of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as wanted. While Owusu Bempah did not directly link the two incidents, his frustration highlighted concerns about integrity and accountability among the country’s political leadership.
However, he later stated that his accusations against Akufo-Addo was a joke
