The Boadi Royal Family of Goaso has expressed outrage over a recent statement made by the Queen Mother of Goaso, Nana Afia Serwaa, during the announcement of the demise of Goasohene.

The family has described the Queen Mother's remarks, in which she allegedly tasked "Salifu 11," a vigilante group, to take over security in the Goaso municipality, as unconstitutional and contrary to Asante traditions.

In a statement issued on Friday, December 27, 2024, the family condemned the Queen Mother's declaration, calling it "despicable" and a potential incitement to violence.

"This statement comes at a time when the community is still reeling from the heinous murder of the Krontihene, who was ambushed and killed on his farm. The Krontihene's only crime was invoking the great oath of Asantehene and seeking legal recourse from the High Court, Sunyani, to stop the enstoolment of Nana Afia Serwaa as the Queen Mother," said Frank Brefo Agyapong, the spokesperson for the Boadi Royal Family.

The family urged the Ghana Police Service to act swiftly to ensure peace and order in Goaso. They called for immediate investigations into the Queen Mother's statement and demanded justice for the murdered Krontihene.

"We strongly condemn the Queen Mother's statement, which amounts to an incitement to violence and anarchy. We call on the Ghana Police Service to take immediate action to monitor the Queen Mother's activities and ensure that she does not carry out her threat," the statement added.

The family further appealed to the Ahafo Regional Police Command to take urgent steps to address security concerns arising from the widely circulated video of the Queen Mother’s statement.

"We urge the police to provide adequate security to the people of Goaso and protect them from any form of violence or intimidation. The perpetrators of the Krontihene's murder must also be brought to justice," Agyapong stressed.

Additionally, the family called on "Salifu 11" to disregard the Queen Mother's directive and abstain from involvement in Goaso's chieftaincy matters.

In their plea to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the family asked for his intervention to ensure the preservation of Asante traditions and customs in Goaso.

"We appeal to our revered occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to intervene in this matter and ensure that the Asante tradition is upheld," the statement concluded.

The Boadi Royal Family's concerns come amidst heightened tensions in Goaso following recent developments in the chieftaincy dispute.

Below is the statement:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONDEMNATION OF GOASO QUEEN MOTHER'S STATEMENT TO HAND OVER POWER TO "SALIFU 11" AND CALL FOR POLICE ACTION

We, the Boadi Royal Family of Goaso, are shocked and appalled by the statement made by the Queen Mother of Goaso, Nana Afia Serwaa, on December 23, 2024. While announcing the demise of Goasohene, she declared that she has tasked Salifu 11, a vigilante group, to take over the security of Goaso municipality. This declaration is despicable, unconstitutional, and contrary to the sacred Asante tradition.

This statement comes at a time when the community is still reeling from the heinous murder of the Krontihene, who was ambushed and killed on his farm. The Krontihene's only crime was invoking the great oath of Asantehene and seeking legal recourse from the High Court, Sunyani, to stop the enstoolment of Nana Afia Serwaa as the Queen Mother, actions which were defied by Nana Kwasi Bosomprah.

We strongly condemn the Queen Mother's statement, which amounts to an incitement to violence and anarchy. We call on the Ghana Police Service to take immediate action to monitor the Queen Mother's activities and ensure that she does not carry out her threat.

We urge the police to:

1. Provide adequate security to the people of Goaso and protect them from any form of violence or intimidation.

2. Investigate the Queen Mother's statement and take appropriate action against her if she is found to have incited violence.

3. Bring the perpetrators of the Krontihene's murder to justice.

4. Call on Salifu 11 to disregard the Queen Mother's call and stay away from Goaso chieftaincy matters.

We appeal to our revered occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to intervene in this matter and ensure that the Asante tradition is upheld.

We also call on the Ahafo Regional Police Command to take urgent steps to address the security implications in the widely circulated video and ensure that the rule of law is maintained within Goaso and its environs.
