Ideal Home Deco (IHD), a leading luxury home improvement company in Ghana, has sponsored six outstanding students from Accra Technical University (ATU) with fully funded scholarships as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for 2024.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with Interior Designers and Decorators Ghana (IDDG), aims to empower the next generation of interior designers and architects by providing financial support to talented but financially constrained students.
The scholarship program was designed as a competitive platform where students showcased their creativity and skills in three distinct design categories: Furniture Design, Swimming Pool Design, and Open Concept Design.
From an initial pool of 24 projects, 10 students were shortlisted. After a rigorous evaluation by a panel of industry professionals, six students emerged as winners and were awarded fully funded scholarships covering both tuition and accommodation for the entirety of their university studies.
Tony Haikal, Owner and Managing Director of Ideal Home Deco Ghana, emphasized the company’s commitment to education and social impact.
“At Ideal Home Deco, we believe that the true power of a company lies not only in its products and services but in the impact it has on society. The future of our world depends on young leaders, thinkers, and innovators, and education is the key to unlocking that potential,” he remarked during the scholarship award ceremony titled 'Empowering Futures.'
Haikal, who also serves as the Managing Director for Leadership Ghana Ltd—TGH Investment Limited, expressed gratitude to ATU faculty members and IDDG for their collaboration in making the scholarship programme a success.
Professor Amevi Acakpovi, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Accra Technical University (ATU), praised the students for their innovative projects, which have earned them fully funded scholarships.
“As part of this collaboration, one of the activities was to award scholarships to brilliant but needy students in the Department of Interior Design and Upholstery Technology,” he stated.
“A competition was held where students applied their innovative designs and underwent a rigorous selection process by industry professionals, and they were selected for these prizes.”
Professor Amevi’s commendation comes after several students of the school received a fully funded scholarship through a competitive design contest.
Special appreciation was also given to Ideal Home Deco’s partner suppliers, including RAK Ceramics, VIRA Deco, Duravit, EMAC, and Reviglass, whose contributions helped fund the initiative.
The winners of the scholarship program were celebrated for their exceptional creativity and dedication to their craft. The top awards were as follows:
