Former United States President Donald Trump has taken an early lead in the 2024 US presidential elections against Kamala Harris, representing the Democrats.
Out of the 270 electoral college votes needed to decide the next leader to enter the White House in 2025, Donald Trump, on the Republican ticket, has garnered 23,856,759 votes and 154 electoral college votes, representing 52.7%, as of November 6, 2024, 2:07 AM. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris has secured 20,852,226 votes, representing 46.1%, in 27 electoral college.
Kamala Harris is competing in what is considered one of the most important elections in years.
What is the Electoral College?
The Electoral College is a 538-member body that elects the president. The framers of the Constitution set it up to give more power to the states and as a compromise to avoid having Congress decide the winner.
