The Ghana Patriotic Pastors and Professional Voice (GPPPV) has called on the Electoral Commission to make available critical voter data statistics to the various political parties as a means of advancing and protecting the credibility and transparency of the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Addressing a press conference at the International Press Centre on Monday, November 11, 2024, the founder and President of GPPPV, Apostle Walter Saakwa-Mante, said it should not be far-fetched for the EC to fulfill the demand by the opposition National Democratic Congress to be furnished with key voter data such as voter statistics.

“The role of our Electoral Commission is very crucial. GPPPV appeals to the Electoral Commission to conduct credible, free, and fair elections as it has always done in previous elections.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the press, GPPPV deems it necessary to bring to the attention of Ghanaians, stakeholders, and our international development partners our deep concerns regarding the actions and omissions of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana as we approach the crucial 2024 General Elections.



“In particular, the Electoral Commission’s omission of critical voter data statistics for the voter register may undermine the transparency and credibility of the 2024 General Elections.”

He continued, “It is an undeniable fact that a transparent and credible election hinges on a voter register that all stakeholders can trust. This is central to the integrity of any electoral process.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the Electoral Commission has presented the final voter register to the political parties not too long ago. A political party, NDC to be precise, raised an issue on National Voter Statistics, Regional and Constituency Voter Statistics, Absentee Voter Statistics, Gender Statistics, and Statistics on Proxy Voters.

“We believe the Commission, at this level and with years of operation, should be capable of giving Ghanaians these basic statistics.

“We urge them to address these concerns raised by the NDC party. This, we believe, will further validate the voter register and also add another layer of credibility to the overall process.

“The Electoral Commission does not need to advertise its competence and credibility; they should rather demonstrate their competence and credibility by their works,” he stated.

He further called on various stakeholders, including the media, the security services, and the National Peace Council, to effectively discharge their duties in ensuring a peaceful and transparent election while urging broader youth engagement to further push for peace.

The group also made a clarion call on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to ensure an overall peaceful election while calling on all Ghanaians to preserve the peace the nation enjoys.

“To our Commander In Chief, the bigger responsibility rests on your shoulders as president of the Republic.

“We pray that you would be guided by wisdom and deliver the results that Ghanaians are expecting from you.

“Finally, we owe it to ourselves. We owe it to our children. We owe it to the generations that will follow us.

“To preserve the peace, the promise, and the possibility of this great nation,” he added.
