The Head Pastor of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Apostle Dr. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, has revealed that he once engaged in a speeding competition with the Founder and General Overseer of the Alive Chapel International Church, Prophet Elisha Salifu Amoako.
According to Owusu-Bempah, the race took place from Takoradi to Accra after they had attended a programme in the Western Region.
Speaking in a sermon on the topic of God’s protection over His people on March 16, 2025, Owusu-Bempah stated that he had arranged with Salifu Amoako to speed up to Accra to see who would arrive first.
Owusu-Bempah emphasized that he had been driving for a long period without ever being involved in an accident, which he attributed to God's protection over his life.
He explained that the competition took them only 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach Accra, a journey that, according to online reports, is typically estimated at about 5 hours and 6 minutes (224.9 km) via the N1 highway.
However, he admitted that they drove carelessly during the race and warned his church members never to engage in such reckless behaviour.
"If I call on the Lord and I am at the point of crashing, God saves me. I have driven for so many years, and I have never had an accident because I always pray to God.
"When I was young, we went to Takoradi for a program, myself and Bishop Salifu Amoako. So, when we were returning, we decided to have a speeding competition to see who would arrive in Accra first. He was driving a blue Mercedes-Benz, and I was using an Audi,” he said.
"We prayed together. It wasn’t entirely intentional, but we wanted to return early for church activities. However, the kind of reckless driving we engaged in made no sense. We were even facing oncoming cars, yet we still managed to reach Accra in just 1 hour and 45 minutes."
