Salim Ahmed Salim emerges champion of GBC’s 'What Do You Know 2024'

The grand finale of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s (GBC) flagship educative programme, "What Do You Know", took place on Sunday, December 1, 2024.

The event featured four finalists: Paul Afari Mintah, Jude, Ibrahim, and Salim Ahmed Salim, competing for the ultimate prize.

After a fierce and engaging contest, Salim Ahmed Salim emerged victorious, securing first place with an impressive 19 points.

He was awarded a cash prize of GH¢ 8,000.

Jude claimed second place, receiving GH¢ 5,000, while Ibrahim placed third, earning GH¢4,000.

Paul Afari Mintah finished fourth and was awarded GH¢ 3,000.

Speaking to the media after the competition, the host, Lawyer Dan Afari Yeboah, emphasized the importance of the program, stating:

“What Do You Know is GBC’s flagship program. We don’t want to boast, but it is widely recognized as one of the most educative programs on television. It has greatly contributed to GBC’s success.

However, the program continues to face financial challenges due to a lack of sponsorship. We appeal to individuals and organizations, especially those who have benefited from the program, to come forward and support its progress.”



The champion, Salim Ahmed Salim, shared his thoughts on the competition, highlighting the value of continuous learning:



“This is a program about knowledge. While you cannot know everything, it is important to learn as much as you can and confidently represent yourself.”

What Do You Know, remains a cornerstone of GBC’s programming, celebrated for its role in promoting education and intellectual engagement across Ghana. The program continues to inspire audiences by showcasing the importance of knowledge and learning.
