In 2020, after the elections, Ing. Mark Baah was appointed CEO of GRIDCo. However, due to competition among NPP members within the company, his appointment was revoked because the Okyehene candidate was deemed superior.

Baah has strong ties with the NPP and has never demonstrated any support for the NDC. This raises questions about why he is being considered for the CEO position when there are reportedly more qualified NDC sympathizers within the company.

Currently, Mark Baah, a well-known NPP sympathizer, is being given last-minute backing to become CEO by Mr. Amuna, a former CEO under the NDC, who is said to have personal ties with former President John Mahama (JM).

It is alleged that Baah and the current CEO have awarded contracts to third-party companies in which they have beneficial interests. Interestingly, Baah is only three months away from retirement from GRIDCo.

Amuna, the former CEO under the NDC, stayed in office for more than a year after the NDC lost power in 2016. He was later appointed as an adviser to Boakye Agyarko at the Ministry of Energy, leaving only after Agyarko resigned.

Amuna is believed to have strong ties with the NPP, as he allegedly supplied information for Dr. Bawumia’s lectures on the energy crisis, which were praised for their accuracy. It is claimed that Amuna has no issue compromising the process to secure the appointment of an NPP sympathizer if it aligns with his interests.

Using his relationship with the President, Amuna is reportedly pushing for his preferred candidate to be appointed as CEO of GRIDCo.

This has caused significant tension within the company, with NDC affiliates threatening to march to the Energy Ministry in protest.

Staff at GRIDCo strongly oppose the appointment of a known NPP sympathizer, fearing it could perpetuate and consolidate the perceived wrongs of the NPP within the energy sector.
