Former executive of the opposition National Democratic Congress in Tema East, Stephen Ashitey Adjei, alias Moshake, has descended heavily on United States based Ghanaian political commentator, Kevin Taylor, after the latter disparaged Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin. In an exclusive interview in Tema, Mr. Ashitey Adjei said Kevin Taylor displayed unintelligence when he ascribed nonsense to the mature temperance of the Speaker after four seats in Parliament had become vacant “I would like to call on all well-meaning Ghanaians to ignore Mr. Kevin Taylor because he is simply politically unintelligent,” he said.

According to Mr. Ashitey Adjei, who is called Moshake, Kevin Taylor’s rush to insult Bagbin on his Facebook timeline when the Speaker was preparing a cogent ruling over the matter shows that Mr.Taylor is shallow and uninformed.

"At the end of the day, the Speaker duly declared the seats vacant, but did so after a comprehensive explanation of the issues in law that back the decision. That is how an experienced politician and lawyer of the stature of Speaker Bagbin go about things,” he said.

It would be recalled that last week, Speaker Bagbin declared four seats in Parliament - Amenfi Central constituency in the Western Region, Fomena in the Ashanti Region, Suhum in the Eastern Region, and Agona West in the Central region – vacant. The declaration became necessary after the four MPs occupying those seats had filed nomination to contest on other tickets, apart from the ones they occupy. In the lead-up to the declaration by the Speaker, Kevin Taylor had gone on his Facebook timeline to accuse the Speaker of behaving nonsensically.“Alban Bagbin, Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament is a sellout.

The NDC need to publicly call him out to stop the nonsense,” he wrote.Later, Speaker Bagbin would precede his declaration of the seats as vacant with a long legal argument, quoting and explaining all the legal provisions that he took time to consult before making the declaration.

“In simple terms, Speaker Bagbin tarried with the declaration of the seats vacant because he wanted to make sure that he was not side-stepping any law and his decision is well researched. How does this show that he is a sellout and a nonsensical person?” Moshake asked rhetorically.

He warned Kevin Taylor that Speaker Bagbin has got proteges and admirers who will not sit down and allow his glowing reputation to be dimmed by people like Kevin Taylor.

“In our politics, there is non as revered and morally and intellectually astute as Speaker Bagbin and so Mr. Taylor must learn to stay his political hatchet jobs away from him or else those of us who regard Bagbin as our mentor will come after him", Moshake said.
