Dagbon Union in UK (DUUK), an association of Dagombas living in the United Kingdom (UK) has donated £5,000 (Gh¢101,765) to the Dagbon Development Fund to support in the reconstruction of the seat of the King and Overlord of Dagbon, the Gbewaa Palace.
DUUK said the donation was part of their numerous support to the Dagbon Kingdom, pleading to do more.
Ndan Ya-Naa Abukari II commissioned the Dagbon Development Fund in March 2023 to mobilize resources and oversee the redevelopment of the ancient palace.
Alhaji Adam Hardi Progress, Chairman of the Dagbon Union UK said DUUK was not only an association of Dagombas but also a Charity Foundation and had plans to embark on several social development projects in Dagbon including the construction of schools, boreholes among others.
The Paramount Chief of Pishigu Traditional Area, Pishigu lana Alhassan Andani who received the donation on behalf of DDF commended DUUK for the donation and pledged that the resources would be use judiciously for the intended purposes.
He urged members of the Dagbon community outside the country to continue to trust their leadership and always support the development of Dagbon.
The King of Dagbon, Ndan Ya-Naa also commended the group and disclosed ghat construction works would begin in December.
He said the DDF had taken time to properly relocate affected families, saying that the relocation efforts were successful, paving way for the reconstruction of the palace to commence.
Ndan Ya-Naa urged DUUK to continue to support development activities in the area.
