October 13th, 2024, will forever be etched in Ghanaian rugby league history as Accra Majestics Ladies took the field for their inaugural rugby league 9s game. Though they faced stiff competition from Nungua Tigers and Bulls, their courage, resilience, and determination shone brighter than the scoreboard.
A Leap of Faith
Accra Majestics Ladies embarked on uncharted territory, boldly paving the way for future generations of female rugby league players in Ghana. Their debut marked a significant milestone in the growth of women's rugby league in West Africa.
"We're proud to be pioneers," said Celestine Sebedzi, Accra Majestics Ladies' captain. "Our losses today are mere stepping stones to greatness."
Game Day
The Majestics faced off against Nungua Tigers in their opening match, displaying remarkable tenacity despite a 16-0 loss. Undaunted, they regrouped and took on Bulls, demonstrating improved cohesion and strategy in a 9-0 loss.
Assistant Coach Moses Agbenu reflected, "Our ladies showed incredible spirit and adaptability. We'll build on this experience, refining our skills and strategy."
