In the heart of Kumasi, a young athlete’s dream burns brighter than the challenges he faces. Meet Sharif Alhassan —a student, a multi-sport talent, and a dedicated member of the Accra Majestics Sports Academy. Apart from playing rugby at Accra Majestics, he also plays basketball at Chiefs Basketball Academy and American football at the Ghana American Football Federation. What makes his story extraordinary? Every Sunday, he embarks on a grueling journey from Kumasi to Accra, driven by an unshakable love for rugby and a relentless pursuit of greatness.
Finding Family in the Accra Majestics
For Sharif, rugby is more than just a sport—it’s a brotherhood. What drew him to the Accra Majestics was the team’s strong sense of unity and their shared mission to achieve greatness together.
"The family bond here is unmatched,” he says. "We push each other to be better, on and off the field."
According to Sharif, being part of the Majestics isn’t just about personal growth; it’s about opportunity. Sharif believes that training with this elite squad will sharpen his skills, expose him to higher levels of competition, and open doors to a future he’s determined to seize.
A Vision for Ghana Rugby
Sharif doesn’t just play for himself—he plays for Ghana. He believes that if the Majestics dominate the Ghana Rugby Union Community, they will send a powerful message to the world: “Ghana has world-class rugby talent.” And with that recognition comes sponsorship, better facilities, and the growth of the sport nationwide.”
"We’re not just building a team; we’re building a legacy,"* he declares. "When sponsors invest in us, they’re investing in the future of Ghanaian rugby—and that’s a divine blessing."
The Sacrifice Behind the Success
While many athletes train close to home, Sharif’s commitment demands extraordinary sacrifice. Every weekend, he makes the long trip from Kumasi to Accra—a journey that’s both physically exhausting and mentally draining. Yet, he refuses to let fatigue win.
"Weekdays are for hustling; weekends are for rugby," he says with a determined smile.
There are no active rugby teams in Kumasi, so this journey is his only option. But for Sharif, it’s a small price to pay for his dreams.
"With prayers and determination, I keep pushing," he shares. "Alhamdulillah, no setbacks so far—I just pray for strength and protection from injuries."
A Call for Support
Sponsorship isn’t just a luxury for Sharif and the Majestics—it’s a necessity. With proper funding, the team can access better equipment, training programs, and exposure. "Potential sponsors should know they’re not just supporting a team; they’re transforming lives," Sharif emphasized.
And to the fans? His message is simple but powerful: "Keep supporting us. We’ll work hard, make you proud, and bring glory to Ghana—In Sha Allah."
The Road Ahead
Sharif’s journey is a testament to what passion, discipline, and faith can achieve. He isn’t just chasing a dream—he’s proving that no distance is too far, no sacrifice too great when you’re committed to greatness.
As he continues to train, travel, and inspire, one thing is clear: The Accra Majestics aren’t just building players—they’re building champions. And Sharif Alhassan is leading the charge.
