Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has urged political parties to refrain from using aggressive or divisive language and instead concentrate on putting well-considered programs before the people. Speaking on Wednesday, November 20, in advance of the general elections scheduled for December 7, Otumfuo emphasized the significance of preserving peace and asked political players to abstain from any acts or statements that would provoke violence.
He promoted a campaign environment focused on national cohesion and productive discourse. His comments were made during a visit by Kofi Akpaloo, the Liberal Party of Ghana's (LPG) presidential candidate, who asked Otumfuo for blessings and support for the next elections together with the leadership of his party.
The elections should demonstrate Ghana's democratic progress, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stressed, and he urged all parties involved to put peace and development first. Yes, Kofi is one of my children who appear to be running in the elections. I offer up prayers for him to succeed and for a calm outcome. I've seen his fliers around town, and we believe that God will be able to keep Ghana going. Patience is necessary to win an election. If my son Kofi wins, I know he will come back. I hope he does. I am also grateful to my in-laws and all those who are behind him. For peace to prevail, the whole team needs to cooperate," he continued.
