Ningo-Prampram's MP, Sam George, has responded to suggestions that his recent cordial exchange with Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a spokesman for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), would indicate a political partnership. During an appearance on TV3's Key Point show, George explained that although he and Aboagye had a humorous moment together, it shouldn't be seen as a sign of political compromise or collusion. Laughing or smiling with someone does not mean that you agree with their political beliefs or behavior, he underlined.
George clarified in the interview that he had only run into Aboagye at another studio and they had a lighthearted conversation. He pointed out that others were attempting to distort the exchange by claiming it was an indication of political cooperation. According to George, "Just because someone shares a smile doesn’t mean you agree with their views or actions." He vehemently denied such suggestions. He also cited Macbeth by Shakespeare, which asserts that one cannot infer someone's true motivations from their appearance alone.
George discussed his own experience with political violence and responded to the new allegations. He returned to the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election in 2019, where he was subjected to a brutal attack. George clarified that he has decided to leave questions of justice in the hands of a higher force, despite strong public demand to exact revenge. "In the past 48 hours, I’ve been tagged more than 100 times by people urging me to seek vengeance," he stated. "But my response is simple: vengeance belongs to the Lord."
George's remarks demonstrated his will to uphold his morals in the face of the difficulties and demands of public office.
