The Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN) and its president, Bolaji Amusan (Mr. Latin), have received a very public apologies from well-known Nigerian actress Nkechi Blessing for her earlier remarks. The apology follows a protracted dispute between Nkechi and TAMPAN that began in 2021 when she denounced Baba Ijesha's alleged case of child abuse. When Nkechi and colleague Iyabo Ojo came out against Baba Ijesha's behavior, certain TAMPAN members, including Yomi Fabiyi and Lege Maimi, reacted negatively.
Nkechi responded by making fun of the association's decision after legendary actor Jide Kosoko forbade directors from collaborating with Nkechi and Iyabo Ojo. Nkechi retraced her steps and apologized profusely to Mr. Latin and TAMPAN during the recent Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada. She apologized for her previous acts while kneeling with a microphone in a widely shared video. She was on her knees, pleading with TAMPA officials to pardon her for missing the industry.
