Blakk Rasta, a well-known musician and presenter, voiced concerns about how rapidly songs become obsolete after they are released.
Roselyn Fell, the Barack Obama hitmaker, blamed artists for favoring trends over timeless music for the short lifespan of modern songs in a recent interview on Joy Prime.
"Lucky Dube once remarked that he never entered a recording studio to create hits. He entered the studio to talk into the microphone. "It's a different story if the songs catch on and become hits because people connect with the message," he stated.
Blakk claims that he never succeeded in writing a hit song, citing the fact that “hits are often tied to trends, unless they create a new wave.” He used the song "Jejereje" by Stonebwoy as an example, noting that although it had a good start, its popularity quickly declined.
"With all due respect, my brother Stonebwoy, whom I adore, is mine. He is aware of my love for him. "Jejereje" was released. Everybody was slamming to it. When it was released, I was in Nkroful. I exclaimed, "Wow, this song is amazing." The music was amazing to me. 'Jejereje' had gone to sleep after a week. I adore it, and I hope 'Jejereje' succeeds beyond measure," he remarked.
Jejereje, which Stonebwoy released in September 2024, has received over 1.3 million views on YouTube.
