Kevin Taylor, the CEO of Loud Silence Media, claims that Asamoah Gyan declined to collaborate with then-President John Dramani Mahama during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil because of his political affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Taylor asserts that during the tournament's controversial player allowance discussion, President Mahama personally requested Gyan's mediation services.
According to Taylor, Gyan refused to meet with the president because he believed that the NPP's interests came before his own. During the ceremony, Taylor criticized Gyan's actions, saying, "A whole president asked to speak with you, showing respect, but you foolishly turned that down because of petty politics." Later that year, Taylor said, Asamoah Gyan requested President Mahama's assistance, including the mobilization of armed forces, after Gyan's friend Castro disappeared in Ada without explanation. In his closing remarks, he questioned Gyan's most recent claims of distance from the NPP and drew attention to contradictions in Gyan's prior actions.
