The termination of a road contract given to National Democratic Congress (NDC) financier Alhaji Fuzak Yushaw, popularly known as Yelzoli, has been defended by Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, the First Deputy Majority Whip in Parliament and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tolon Constituency.
According to the MP, who was speaking on Tamale's Diamond FM, the contract was originally awarded in September 2016 but was revoked because Fuzak failed to complete the project after eight years. Hon. Iddrisu asserts that the Ministry of Roads terminated the contract because the contractor did not satisfy performance standards, not just because he suggested it. "Fuzak neglected to construct the road that was given to him for eight years until he paid a visit to the location two months ago. I personally questioned him about his lack of involvement in the project. "I asked for the required documents to help push for payment because he said he was owed money, but he never provided them," the MP revealed.
According to Hon. Iddrisu, the road project was split into two halves, each of which was successfully finished and tarred by a different contractor. Fuzak, however, declined to carry out his portion.
People lost their lives on that road, and others were hurt in collisions brought on by the terrible condition of the road. Because I wanted to make sure my constituency developed, I ended the deal. "I will take action if someone gets in the way of this goal—not out of hate, but because my people deserve better," the MP emphasized. In order to guarantee the road's prompt completion and provide much-needed respite to the constituency, the congressman noted that the new contractor has already started work.
