On January 2, 2024, a gang of political party thugs purportedly affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) broke into President Akufo-Addo's secretary Nana Asante Bediatuo's official home at Roman Ridge.
Following the thugs' alleged nonpayment for security services rendered prior to, during, and following the 2024 elections, there was a violent intrusion. The attack occurred after the thugs were denied two opportunities to see Nana Asante Bediatuo on December 27 and 30, according to press sources.
They were told at the time that he was out of the country and unavailable. The group of about 20 guys stormed inside the house after discovering his absence, overwhelming the security personnel who attempted to stop them. Although there are rumors that the event might be connected to ongoing political tensions, sources indicate the attackers were looking for payment for their services throughout the election time. Despite being informed that Nana Asante Bediatuo was not there, witnesses said the attackers were determined to go inside. Police arrived to secure the area and restore order after authorities were quickly called to the site.
To ascertain the entire extent of the motivation behind the attack and to identify the individuals accountable for the break-in, investigations are already in progress. Currently undergoing medical treatment abroad is Nana Asante Bediatuo, a lawyer and the president's secretary.
