The Concerned Traditional leaders of Asanteman, a group of Asante leaders, have declared their unwavering support for John Dramani Mahama, the incoming president. According to Nana Kwame Mensah-Bonsu, who spoke on behalf of the organization, Otumfuo Ahenenanom Hene, the chiefs are overjoyed that Ghanaians have given Mahama another chance to govern the nation. He claimed that because of Mahama's affection for the Asanteman people during his first time as president, they want the world to know that the Asanteman people and their chiefs support the president-elect.
He said that Mahama has performed better than any of the previous presidents of the 4th Republic of Ghana, including former President John Agyekum Kufuor. We send our best wishes to John Mahama, the president-elect. Because of his affection for Kumasi and Asante, we, as Concerned Traditional Chiefs, are sending him our best wishes. We give thanks to God for Mahama's victory. He has good intentions, therefore we pray that God will be with him.
"We are aware that he will repeat his previous actions during his second coming. He came to assist us, and he did some. Kufuor performed admirably, but when you consider all of our previous administrations, not even he comes close to Mahama," he stated in Twi. We, the worried chiefs, want the world to know that Asante is supporting Mahama now that he is returned," he continued. He has us full backing as chiefs. John Mahama is not like you know who; he is a wonderful man who listens and is modest.
