Last Friday, Chief Inspector Godwin Beniba, the groom, tragically died during his wedding ceremony in Akyem Anamase, which is close to Oda in the Eastern Region. Shortly after reaching the Anamase Hotel, the event's location, Chief Inspector Beniba, the Station Officer at the Anamase Police Station, passed out. The bride, Florence Debrah, was in one of the rooms at the event center, and the groom, together with his best men, had been waiting for her to arrive. Witnesses said that as soon as the groom entered the location, he complained of feeling lightheaded. He fell to the ground before anyone could react.
Some of the invited guests hurried him to the Anamase Clinic, where medical staff declared him dead upon arrival. Police officers who had gone from Accra, Koforidua, Oda, Akyem Achiase, Akyem Swedru, and other parts of the country to witness the union were among the hundreds of participants who were grieved by the tragic news. Many were so distraught that they were unable to control their tears. As stunned guests departed the site in grief, large amounts of food and beverages that had been prepared for the event went unused. The deceased's relatives made arrangements for the remains to be taken to the Oda Government Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation after he left his hometown in the Northern Region.
