During the federal elections in 2024, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) suffered a crushing defeat in the Bono Region, losing all other parliamentary seats and keeping only the Wenchi constituency. Numerous conversations concerning the party's electoral strategy and the reasons behind its dismal performance have been sparked by this defeat. Renowned Ghanaian prophet Nicholas Osei, also called Prophet Kumchacha, has spoken on the matter and blamed Kwame Baffoe, better known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman, for the NPP's demise in the area. In a Kingdom FM interview, Kumchacha attacked Abronye for putting personal assaults ahead of grassroots activism.
According to Kumchacha, the NPP lost the election because its leaders abandoned their campaign platform and started insulting people back-to-back. He maintained that the NPP's campaign activities were sidetracked by Abronye's numerous media appearances, which were frequently characterized by verbal abuse directed at him and other opposition leaders.Since Abronye constantly attacked me and other NDC leaders on television and radio rather than going out to campaign with their parliamentary candidates, the majority of the MPs in his area lost their seats, Kumchacha continued. The prophet further disclosed that he purposefully agitated Abronye in order to draw attention to his lack of concentration. He believed that his insults were upsetting and degrading me, but he was unaware that I was using my common sense to change
Abronye was accused by Kumchacha of making inflammatory and untrue accusations, such as that his late mother was a Nigerian prostitute. He compared this conduct to the opposition National Democratic Congress's (NDC) vigorous campaigning in both rural and urban areas, which was led by figures like John Mahama and Julius Debrah. "Abronye was criticizing Kumchacha on radio and television stations while John Mahama, Julius Debrah, and Nana Opoku Agyemang were campaigning from villages to cities. This is the outcome he achieved in his area," Kumchacha said.
