According to Ghana's 1992 Constitution, Article 276(1) forbids chiefs from actively participating in party politics and requires them to resign their position if they so choose. But before the elections on December 7, 2024, several traditional leaders disregarded the legislation and continued to support the candidates they wanted to win the presidency.
Now that the general elections are over, Ghanaweb examines the five traditional chiefs that stood up and supported Vice President Dr. The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was Mahamudu Bawumia.
