Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and has voiced his displeasure with the initial construction of Kumasi Airport under former President John Dramani Mahama. Wontumi compared the former airport to a "kitchen" in an interview with Serwaa Amihere on GhOne TV. "It was far from meeting modern standards," he said.
During the interview, he compared Mahama's purportedly unmet promises for the Ashanti Region with the Akufo-Addo-led administration's transformation of the facility into a world-class airport. Since then, the interview has spurred discussions about the development initiatives carried out by succeeding administrations.
