The Electoral Commission (EC) has been directed by the High Court in Accra to compile the results of the 62 unresolved polling stations in the Ablekuma North Constituency and announce the winner by January 6, 2925, at the latest. According to the evidence presented to the court, which was presided over by Justice Forson Baah Agyapong, the election procedures in that constituency have not been finished.
According to the court, 219 of the 262 polling places were counted, leaving 62 unaccounted for before the announcement announcing NDC Parliamentary Candidate Awurabena Aubynn as the victor. The NPP candidate, Nana Akua Afriyie, requested that the court issue a mandamus order compelling the EC to fulfill its legitimate role.
The applicant's plea was granted, according to Justice Forson Baah Agyapong's verdict, and the EC was directed to compile the 62 remaining polling places and supplement the previously compiled and announced results by January 6, 2025, at the latest. In order to guarantee that the EC fulfills its public role, the Court has also directed the Inspector General of Police to provide sufficient protection at all collation centers.
