Following his hamstring injury sustained during Ghana's game against Sudan on Tuesday, Mohammed Salisu will be out of AS Monaco's Ligue 1 encounter against Lille on Friday night.
Concerns were raised regarding the central defender's fitness when he struggled during his game in Libya and left the match after being outrun by a forward from Sudan. Salisu had been having a fantastic season so far, contributing significantly to Monaco's outstanding play, which includes a stunning 2-1 Champions League triumph over Barcelona. Even right before the international break, he scored his first goal in the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb.
His performances in the two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Sudan, however, fell short of expectations, leading some to doubt his dedication to the national squad. Salisu has found it difficult to maintain his level of play for the Black Stars.
Salisu's absence is a major loss for Monaco, especially with their top spot in Ligue 1 on the line, as Ghana faces difficulties in their quest for AFCON qualification. Since Monaco hasn't released any new information, it's unclear how serious his injury is and when he might make a comeback.
