The first free health screening program for members of the Accra-based Assemblies of God Retired Ministers and Spouses Association has been successfully organized by Lordina Dramani Mahama. The initiative, which is funded by the former First Lady's Lordina Foundation, carries on a promise made on September 14th to plan a quarterly activity for retired church pastors and their spouses. Laboratory tests for blood sugar, Hepatitis B, and prostate health are among the services offered. Additionally, general practitioners, urologists, gynecologists, dietitians, and opticians were consulted.
Those who had to buy drugs were given free medications by the foundation. The project is intended to allay worries regarding the medical well-being of retiring pastors and their spouses, according to Rev. Kwame Sarpong Boateng, a board member of the Lordina Foundation. He outlined some of the Foundation's philanthropic endeavors, such as consistent assistance and donations to widows, orphanages, and the elderly; the building of maternity and children's wards in three regions; the supply of medical supplies to medical facilities; support for artisans; and other significant social projects. Mrs. Mahama received praise from Rev. Sarpong Boateng for her considerateness and creative solution to societal issues.
The medical team's leader, Dr. Padiki Derban, praised the initiative, pointing out that certain Association members would not be able to buy particular prescriptions because of their high cost, making it a timely and helpful intervention. The program offers a crucial lifeline for retiring ministers and their families, according to Reverend Professor Kwesi Krereko, the immediate past president of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, which is one of its beneficiaries. He thinks the scheme will improve members' access to healthcare and prolong their lives following active ministry duty. Reverend Dr. Harry Insaidoo, the president of the association, expressed his amazement at the screening's thoroughness and said he did not expect such a thorough and in-depth service.
If we had sought treatment at a hospital, this type of examination would have been extremely expensive. Some of the complimentary pharmaceuticals given out at this occasion have quite high costs. It is quite touching to receive all of these medical procedures and prescription drugs at no cost. "Seeing one of our own stand by the retired servants of the gospel is a joy," he said. According to Reverend Dr. Insaidoo, the Lordina Foundation initiative is especially remarkable because many members on pension find it difficult to pay for their prescriptions due to their high cost. Speaking with the beneficiaries and the medical staff, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama emphasized her happiness with the attendance and her wish for even greater success at future events.
