After President John Dramani Mahama was sworn in, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, the vice presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was the target of trolling on social media.

After being single for many years, NAPO married just as rumors began to circulate that he would be selected as Dr. Bawumia's running mate by the then-ruling NPP.
This prompted rumors on social media that he had merely married for political reasons, presumably to have a second lady when he took power.

Some individuals used social media to harass NAPO after the party's defeat and the formal handover of power with Mahama's swearing-in.
