In order to combat the growing problem of paternity fraud in Ghana, Ghanaian musician Guru Nkz is urging parents to accept DNA testing.
Guru emphasized the significance of performing DNA testing as soon as possible after childbirth to verify the identity of the biological father in an interview with Kumasi-based Nhyira FM. Guru related a personal story of how he was wrongfully accused of being the father of a child.
Such circumstances, he noted, are growing more frequent and cause families great emotional and financial strain. "Whether you are the father or mother, as soon as the child is born, request a DNA test to confirm the biological father," he said.
