While live-streaming on TikTok, Twene Jonas, a well-known Ghanaian political critic who now resides in the United States, nearly got detained by US authorities. He mistakenly approached a church during one of his frequent public tirades about Ghanaian politics and the inadequacies of the administration, raising worries with his boisterous remarks. Disturbed by the commotion, the congregation reported Twene Jonas to the police for causing a public disturbance.
Shortly after, the police showed up and asked Twene Jonas, who clarified that he was a content creator who was recording a live video.
In order to prevent any more altercations, Jonas hastily packed everything and fled the area after the conversation. Jonas has gained a sizable following for his unrestrained style, often using his platform to highlight elements of American society and critique Ghanaian leadership.
